Do you want to enjoy delicious locally grown foods year‐round? Do you have an interest in rediscovering food traditions like canning and fermenting but were worried about food safety? Learn to can food right, while supporting FoodRight—a non‐profit whose mission is to reverse the childhood obesity crisis by changing the way our next generation eats through culinary nutrition education.

Join Master Gardener, Master Food Preserver, Registered Dietitian, and FoodRight CEO Lisa Kingery in discovering the joys of preserving your own foods. In this hands‐on class, you will learn to make that perfect jar of dilly beans or a not‐too‐sweet crunchy bread & butter pickle through vinegar infusions. We will also learn how to transform those little gherkins into old-fashioned sour dills using fermentation. Students will leave with the know‐how to can and ferment safely at home along with 2 jars of their own canned‐creations, tip sheets, recipes and resources for preserving food at home. (Note: The Secrets to making CRUNCHY pickles shall be revealed.)

All proceeds go to supporting culinary nutrition education for low‐income youth in Milwaukee Public Schools.

Jessie Sheehan has put a modern spin on vintage classics in her new book, The Vintage Baker. In this instruction class, Jessie will lead guests through preparation (and consumption!) of some of her favorite recipes from the book. Devil's food sheet cake with sea foam frosting, butterscotch potato chip balls and chocolate marshmallow walnut fudge will be the highlights of the evening. Take a trip down memory lane while learning the history of these delicious vintage classics and viewing the original booklets. Signed copies of The Vintage Baker will be available for purchase at the class.

Peppers—green to red, hot to sweet—are plentiful and sold for a song this time of year. Learn the many ways to preserve them while supporting FoodRight—a non‐profit that ensures that all children have a chance to enjoy lifelong health through culinary training and edible education.

Join Master Gardener, Master Food Preserver, Registered Dietitian, and FoodRight CEO Lisa Kingery and learn to create and can piquant fresh pack pickles like taqueria‐style escabeche. You will also learn to ferment and transform chilies into homemade hot (or mild) sauce. This class is 100% fun and hands‐on. You will leave the lesson with 2 jars of their own creation along with tip sheets, recipes, resources for preserving food at home and the know‐how to can and ferment safely on your own.

All proceeds go to supporting culinary nutrition education for low‐income youth in Milwaukee Public Schools.
