So, you’ve got that big box of peaches at the peak of the season. In this hands-on class, you will learn to can food right, while supporting FOOD RIGHT-- a non-profit whose mission is to stop the childhood obesity crisis by changing the way the next generation eats through culinary and edible education programs. You’ll join Master Gardener, Master Food Preserver, Registered Dietitian and FoodRight CEO, Lisa Kingery where you will learn to make and can peach jam. In addition, you will get the know-how to can and preserve food safely at home along with a jar of your own canned-creation, tip sheets, recipes and resources for preserving food at home.

All proceeds will go to supporting culinary classes for low-income youth in MPS central city classrooms.

You’ll work with our open pantry to create the wrap (or wraps) you can combining flavors, textures, techniques and temperatures in this all-out battle where only one will reign supreme!”

After revisiting the fundamentals of rolling and cutting, Chef Cruz will demonstrate how to break down and fillet a fish. He will also advance your knowledge into the world of sushi Nigiri, easy vegetable pickling, and using handy ingredients to make delicious pairings and dressings. And in the end, you’ll put it all together and walk away having built your very own sushi lunch box.
